Best chess app!

Period. Actually one of the best designed and implemented apps Ive ever seen!!

Excellent trainer!

However, the left edge of the screen is dead in this game! The entire 1st row (8 if black) Does not respond well to touch. Almost ruins a very good game on my iPhone 4S.

Love this style!!!

The more I learn playing chess strategies, the more I appreciate this Hippo opening and training . I wish Maurice had several more teaching modules like KIA, Dzindi, French, or Queens gambit, etc. A fan!!!

Great app,

Will add a couple of hundred points to a beginners rating ,advanced players should review this also

Audio stops after 5 seconds

The audio stops after 5 seconds in the lessons. Very disappointed.

Whats up with the stupid audio!!!!!

So lame, how do you fix the audio. Stupid sound cuts out after 5 seconds. Aghhhh, soooo tired of apps that work like crap!!

Professionally done app

Well done, very professional looking app. I did not have a sound issue in iOS6 (however, it would sometimes close "by itself" but not enough to be annoying). The video lessons with Maurice are somewhat short, but well done, and then after each lesson there are fun (and sometimes very challenging) games. Only one complaint is that I do wish there were more examples in the videos. Because there are not so many examples, doing some of the medium to hard exercises would be rather difficult for a "true" beginner (someone who knows nothing about chess and is trying to learn chess alone from this app). A true beginner would have to supplement the app with other sources like a basics tactics app. However, with this said, one can tell that a lot of time and effort went into producing this app and for $2.99 its in my opinion worh it.

Really good, but

But I recommend you add an in game way to recommend improvements. Also o recommend making the dialog boxes transparent so I can see the board and pieces under them, this way when I finish a mini lesson, I feel good about your encouraging "you did it" message, but I can also let what I did sink in a bit.

Best app in the App Store!!!!!

When it comes to teaching chess, Maurice Ashley does it best. This app is not just for beginners. Even master chess players can take a page from Maurice Ashleys playbook!

Good refresher

Pros good gui, good techniques and drills Cons actions a little too fast for old-timers, and when youve been mated it doest let you see your opponents last move, how can you learn from that? Overall I like it, well worth the cost.

Great learning tool

This is a great app for people wanting to learn chess. Lots of informative lessons with effective skill building exercises. I was stuck on one of the puzzles and Maurice Ashley responded to my tweet! If you are reading this, get this app!
